CONTEST DETAILS
CATEGORIES
- Individuals / Families (Category A)
- Schools, Churches, Temples & Non-Profit Organizations (Category B)
- Kenjinkai (Japanese Prefectural Association of SoCal) (Category C)
- Display Only (I do not wish to be in the contest; no prize will be awarded) (Category D)
- Theme: “HOPE”
JUDGING CRITERIA
The kazari will be judged on:
- Representation of the theme: HOPE
- Originality/Creativity
- Design of kazari
- Use of paper decorations (flowers, streamers)
- Quality of Contruction
Materials Not Recommended: Lightweight items such as foil or ribbon.
Construction Tip: Use heavy-duty scotch tape, double-sided tape, glue or thin wire to secure paper decorations.
If the kazari is over the maximum height, width or weight, it will be disqualified from the contest.
The kazari will be displayed but will not be entered in the contest.
Size and Weight Maximums:
- MAXIMUM HEIGHT: 8 feet
- MAXIMUM WIDTH: 22 inches
- MAXIMUM WEIGHT: 8 pounds

HOW TO ENTER:
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Sat, Aug 2, 2025
Kazari not registered by the deadline will not be eligible for the contest and will be for display only.
REGISTRATION FEE: $10 per KAZARI
KAZARI DROP-OFF DAY: Thursday, August 7, 2025: 11am – 5pm
KAZARI PICK-UP DAY: Monday, August 18, 2025: 10am to 5pm
